A breastfeeding mom produces carbohydrates for breast milk.  Going on a diet with not many carbohydrates will require your body to provide more carbs than those women who are not lactating.  Your body’s need to produce more sugar plus the stress of having to take care of a new baby and other factors may cause you to have ketoacidosis. Ketoacidosis can be life-threatening as it requires your body to produce high levels of blood acid.
